Forestry Mulching for Acreage & Brush
Grind brush, cedar, and small trees where they stand. No burn piles, no hauling.
We clear overgrown land, mow pastures and handle the dirt work that comes after, from brush hog mowing to driveway reconditioning and house pads. Serving landowners in Granbury, Weatherford, Glen Rose, Cleburne, Stephenville, Springtown and Palo Pinto County.
Black Knuckle Land Management is owned by Brandon Church and based just outside Granbury, Texas, as the land clearing arm of Black Knuckle Ranch. We bought our first skid steer to clear our own ranch, then put it to work for other landowners in the summer of 2025. Today we work as forestry mulching contractors for homeowners and rural landowners within about an hour and a half of Granbury. If your land has grown up in brush or needs work before you can use it, that's exactly what we do.
Forestry mulching and brush hog mowing are the core of our business, backed by light dirt work, driveway reconditioning, gravel work, culverts, house pads and RV pads. Our two operators run the equipment on every job and bring real heavy equipment experience to your property. We're not going to be the cheapest bid you get, and we won't pretend to be. What you will get is a straight answer to every question, a fair price and a job done as well as we know how to do it.

Call, text or fill out the form and tell us what's going on with your property. Before we drive out, we study your land on aerial imagery and parcel maps so we understand the acreage, tree cover and equipment access. Then we give you a free estimate, in person when the job calls for it, with a clear scope and no pressure.
We mark what stays and what goes, including the trees you want to keep, fence lines, trails and any areas that need extra care. We talk through access and any follow-up work like a driveway, culvert or pad so everything happens in the right order. You'll know the plan before a machine touches your land.
On the scheduled day, we haul the skid steer and attachments to your property. Our operators check ground conditions and set up where the work will do the least damage to what you're keeping. We show up when we say we will.
Our mulching head grinds brush, small trees and undergrowth into a layer of mulch that stays on the ground and helps hold your soil in place. There are no burn piles to manage and no trucks hauling debris off your land. For open pasture and tall grass, brush hog mowing knocks it down fast.
When the work is done, we go over the property to make sure it matches the scope. If an area needs another pass, it gets done before we leave. You get usable land and a clean finish.
From overgrown acreage to the driveway that leads to it, we handle the work that turns rough land into usable land. Every service below is available to homeowners and landowners across Granbury, Weatherford, Glen Rose, Cleburne, Stephenville, Springtown and Palo Pinto County.

Black Knuckle started on our own ranch outside Granbury, clearing and improving land we live and work on. We know what it takes to keep acreage usable in this part of Texas because we're doing it too.
Black Knuckle Land Management is a team of forestry mulching contractors, not a real estate company. When you call, you're talking to the people who will show up with the equipment and do the work on your property.
Before we quote your job, we look at your property on aerial imagery and parcel maps so the estimate reflects your actual acreage and terrain. Estimates are always free, and the scope is spelled out so you know exactly what's included.
Black Knuckle Land Management works as forestry mulching contractors across Hood County and the surrounding region, within about an hour and a half of our Granbury home base. From Springtown and Weatherford in the north to Glen Rose and Stephenville in the south, we bring brush hog mowing, dirt work and driveway services to small lots and large acreage alike.
Forestry mulching cost per acre depends mostly on how thick the brush is, the size of the trees and how rough or sloped the ground is. Light brush on open ground goes much faster than dense cedar or hardwood thickets, so two properties with the same acreage can price very differently. We look at your land on aerial imagery before quoting, then give you a free estimate based on your actual property. Call or fill out the form and we'll get you a number.
Forestry mulching uses a machine with a rotating cutting head to grind brush and trees into mulch right where they stand. Traditional land clearing usually pushes everything into piles with a dozer, then burns or hauls the debris away. Mulching leaves the topsoil in place, spreads a protective layer that helps prevent erosion and lets us keep the trees you want. It's often faster and leaves the land ready to use the same day.
It depends on what's growing. Brush hog mowing works best on tall grass, weeds and light brush in pastures and open areas. Once saplings and small trees take hold, a forestry mulcher is the better tool because it handles woody growth a brush hog can't. Many properties need both, and we'll recommend the right approach during your free estimate.
The cost of a gravel driveway depends on its length and width, the condition of the ground underneath, the type of gravel and whether it needs a culvert or drainage work. Reconditioning an existing driveway usually costs less than building a new one because the base is already there. We'll measure your driveway, look at how water moves across it and give you a free estimate with the scope spelled out.
Filling potholes with loose gravel is a short-term fix, because the holes come back wherever water sits. The lasting fix is to reshape the driveway so it has a crown that sheds water, compact the surface and add fresh gravel on top. If water is running across the driveway, a culvert or better drainage may be part of the solution. That's what our driveway reconditioning service does.
Culvert installation cost depends on the pipe length and diameter, the pipe material and how much digging and backfill the site needs. A driveway culvert that ties into a county road ditch may also need to meet county requirements, so check with your county before work begins. We'll look at your site, recommend placement and give you a free estimate.
A good RV pad starts with a compacted base layer, not just loose rock. Angular crushed stone locks together and holds weight better than round pea gravel, which shifts under tires and leveling jacks. The right material and depth depend on your soil and the weight of your RV. We'll recommend what works for your pad during the estimate.
No. Black Knuckle Land Management is a land services company. We clear, mow and improve land that you already own, including forestry mulching, brush hog mowing, dirt work, driveways, culverts and pads. If you're looking to buy property, a local real estate agent is the right call.
Whether it's overgrown acreage, a pasture that needs mowing or a driveway that washes out every rain, we'll give you an honest assessment and a fair price. Every estimate is free, and we cover Granbury and the surrounding area within about an hour and a half.
